Why Mounting Brackets Matter for Wi-Fi, CCTV, and Security Systems

In the world of professional security installations, network reliability and visibility aren’t optional, but they are critical. Whether you’re deploying CCTV cameras, Wi-Fi access points (APs), or integrated smart systems, how you mount your hardware has a direct impact on system performance.

In the world of professional security installations, network reliability and visibility aren’t optional, but they are critical. Whether you’re deploying CCTV cameras, Wi-Fi access points (APs), or integrated smart systems, how you mount your hardware has a direct impact on system performance.

Why does mounting placement matter?

A new technical report from the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC): commissioned the Essentials by Vista product range proves that mounting placement matters more than ever in today’s data-rich, wireless-driven environments. And for Norbain customers, this reinforces the value of the Essentials by Vista bracket range, engineered to maximise both coverage and efficiency.

The study compared APs placed on a standard workbench (Scenario 1) with those mounted at height using a specially designed bracket (Scenario 2) across eight shop-floor locations at an industrial test site. These brackets clamp directly onto existing pipes or surfaces without drilling, making them ideal for listed buildings, commercial refurbishments, or rental sites.

The data shows:

  • Lower latency (ping times) in all eight test zones when using bracket-mounted APs
  • Significantly faster download speeds in six of eight zones
  • Over 30% speed improvement at key locations (LOC3 and LOC4)

What are LOC3 and LOC4 (test locations for our research)? These refer to designated test points in areas with moderate obstructions, similar to warehouses, production lines, or retail back-of-house zones. The performance boost in these locations highlights the real-world value of elevated mounting to reduce interference and extend coverage.

Why better brackets means better bandwidth

From video streaming and remote access to real-time alerts, the network is the backbone of any modern security system. And when poor AP placement results in coverage gaps, dropped signals, or delayed data transmission, the consequences can be severe.

Norbain’s customers benefit from industry-leading stock availability, and the Essentials by Vista brackets now offer an added edge: they help reduce installation time while delivering measurable network gains.

To summarise, better brackets = better bandwidth. Better performance means fewer callouts, less downtime, and greater trust in the systems you install.

The Essentials by Vista Bracket Range

The Essentials by Vista bracket range is universally compatible with most CCTV brands and is available in both 38mm and 50mm diameter options.

The 38mm diameter option offers a more streamlined look and is available with 2 hole or 3 hole locking systems.

The 50mm diameter option offers a traditional profile while allowing for increased cable volume within the 50mm diameter conduit. It is available with a 2-hole locking system.
