  • How to reset Hikvision camera

    1. Using the Reset Button (Most IP Cameras)

    • Locate the reset button: Usually inside the camera’s casing, under the cover, or near the memory card slot.

    • Power off the camera.

    • Press and hold the reset button.

    • While holding the power of the camera.

    • Keep holding for 10–30 seconds until you see the indicator LED blink or hear a click.

    • Release the button → The camera reboots to factory defaults (default IP: 192.168.1.64, username: adminThe password must be set on the first login.)

     2. Via SADP Tool (If No Reset Button)

    • Download and install the Hikvision SADP Tool on a PC (from Hikvision’s official site).

    • Run SADP to detect cameras on your network.

    • Select the camera → Click Forgot Password.

    • Export the XML file and send it to Hikvision support (or your distributor).

    • They will return a reset file/code (valid for 24–48h).

    • Import it back into SADP → Reset the password.

    3. Through NVR/DVR (If Camera is Connected)

    • Log in to your Hikvision NVR/DVR with admin rights.

    • Go to Camera Management → Select the camera → Reset Password.

    • You may need the security questions or reset file if set up before.

     4. Via Web Interface (If Password Known)

    • Log in to the camera’s web interface.

    • Go to Configuration → Maintenance → Default → Restore / Factory Defaults.

    • This requires knowing the current password.

    Important Notes:

    • Resetting restores factory settings (you’ll lose network, recording, and custom configurations).

    • Newer Hikvision firmware requires you to set a new password after reset (There is no Hikvision default password "12345" anymore).

    • If you bought through a reseller, sometimes only they can provide the reset file.
