The Seagate SkyHawk 8TB is a 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s surveillance hard drive designed for network video recorders and video DVRs running 24×7. ImagePerfect firmware and ATA streaming support allow it to record from up to 64 HD cameras, in systems with up to 16 drive bays. It uses CMR recording with a 256MB cache and a maximum sustained transfer rate of 180MB/s, and built-in RV sensors help maintain performance in multi-bay systems. SkyHawk Health Management helps protect surveillance storage through prevention, intervention and recovery options, and includes RAID RapidRebuild for volume rebuilds up to three times faster than traditional RAID rebuilds. The drive is rated for workloads of 180TB per year with a 1,000,000-hour MTBF, draws an average of 5.3W in operation, and carries a 3-year limited warranty.
